The Director of Urological Research; James A. Mobley, Ph.D.

The lab was initiated in 2006 from the a very inspired division Director of Urology, Dr. Christopher Amling, the Director of the facility Dr. James Mobley, and the Chair of Surgery Dr. Kirby Bland. The goal at that time was to develop one of the first clinical proteomic facilities within the Division of Urology in the Nation. We have now expanded to offer services to researches campus wide.

We have actively strived to integrate into the unique environment at UAB to enhance the primary bases for our research, which is to 1) identify clinically significant and non-invasive biomarkers for early detection of disease, and 2) to identify highly efficacious novel therapeutics.

In order to accomplish these goals in the most effective way, we have partnered with various clinical groups, basic science labs, and commercial ventures in order to pull together a highly vigorous translational research program in Urology and throughout the Comprehensive Cancer Center.
